Iknow, it’s difficult, I get it. But quitting smoking is probably one of the best things you can do as a smoker. The benefits are endless. Better stamina, better taste, better skin, better breath. You’ll smell better, look better, feel better and most of all… you’ll have less chance of becoming dead! That one alone is a great reason to become an ex-smoker 🙂
Become a ‘Joker Smoker’?
Vaping has worked for millions of ex-smokers. I tried it myself and completely stopped smoking cigarettes withing three days. The problem I had with vaping is it gave me ulcers (canker sores) in the mouth. There is also a lot of people online who suffered the same misfortune. It seems it’s a problem for a large number of Vapers. Of course, the number of people who suffer with mouth ulcers from vaping are still small compared to the number of people who don’t. So it may be a good place to start.
The great thing about vaping, compared to other nicotine products, is that you still get the satisfaction of the inhale – exhale you get from a cigarette. Also you can choose your nicotine amount. I actually went down to zero nicotine, and really didn’t notice any difference, and it still satisfied my need for a cigarette.
Vaping, like smoking, isn’t without it’s controversy or risk though. As it is still in it’s early stages, we don’t really know what the long term effects are. Even though there isn’t any tar or chemical content that is found is cigarettes, it still has people worried about the effects of oil on the lung. There have been many deaths reported to be a result of vaping (around 36 to date – November 2019) and many others admitted to hospital with ‘vaping related lung problems’ (1500 to date – November 2019 ).
Joking Smoking the healthy way
OK, so I developed a breathing technique that can replace smoking quite effectively. It is extremely simple and wont take too much explaining…
So when you need a cigarette, all you have to do is pretend to smoke one. I know right? Ground-breaking or what??!
I’m not even joking. You see, we’re led to believe that it’s the nicotine that we crave. This makes us believe that we have no control over our addiction. Therefore, we buy more and more packets, and this makes the nicotine industry extremely wealthy.
The truth is though, the thing we crave is the inhale – exhale feeling we get from smoking. We need that relaxing few minutes we get from smoking a cigarette. What we aren’t told though, is that the satisfaction and comfort that smoking gives us is provided mainly by the deep breathing we practice while smoking. We breathe slowly in (inhale). Hold for a second or two. Then breathe slowly out (exhale). We do this for around 5 mins until the cigarette is finished, then we feel more relaxed and satisfied than before. This is why vaping has taken off so well where nicotine patches and gum have failed – because you still get the inhale-exhale motion.
How to perform Joking Smoking
So you don’t need to use your hands for this. you just have to pretend there is a cigarette in your mouth and breathe in slowly, filling your lungs with air. Then hold for a second or two. Then breathe out slowly in a controlled manor, just like you do while smoking. Go on, try it now. If no one is around, and you want to use your hands as if you were actually holding a cigarette by your lips then cool, do that!
Try this whenever you feel like a cigarette and see if you can cut down. Maybe you should count how many inhale -exhales you preform during smoking an actual cigarette and the time it takes to finish one. Then you can use this info when preforming the ‘Joking Smoking’ technique.
So, joking smoking is the healthiest option for giving up smoking. You breath nothing but clean air (as long as you’re not standing too close to an exhaust pipe!) and you don’t have to buy anything or carry anything with you, and you’ll live longer!
